The Palmyra-Macedon Central School District covers the area, and the two towns are frequently lumped together. One of the district’s schools – the Palmyra-Macedon Intermediate School – is in Macedon. Part of Gananda, a planned community that started with federal funding in the 1970s, is in Macedon. The town has a Walmart Super Store and a Lowe’s, as well as shops and restaurants in West Wayne Plaza on Route 31 and an additional shopping area on Main Street. There’s a movie theater complex, Canaltown Cinema, and a go-kart track and a winery in town. You’re only about nine miles from the village of Fairport in Monroe County, and 11 miles from Victor in Ontario County.
